Appointments

For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.

This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

Urgent appointments

Each surgery sets aside time for those who need to be seen on the same day. Please do not use this facility if your problem can wait for another day.

If you wish to have a same day appointment or an emergency appointment please telephone the surgery as early as possible to be allocated a consultation time. The telephone lines are open from 8am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.

How to book

Extended access

We also have extended access available. See our Out of Hours information.

Book a Routine Appointment

Appointments can be made in advance however they soon become booked, so please allow plenty of notice.

Only book 1 appointment per person.

If you feel you need more time with the doctor ask the receptionist for a longer appointment. You may choose to see any of the five doctors but try and avoid changes, especially during the course of one illness or problem.

We do try to keep appointment times but in the nature of the job there are bound to be delays - please be patient, it may be your turn next for extra time with the doctor.

Ways to book

1. Download the NHS Wales App

Telephone Advice and Appointments

Telephone Advice

The practice has four lines which all become very busy in the morning, especially between 8am and 10:30am. So if your call can wait, please phone in the early afternoon.

Telephone Appointments

These appointments are for advice only and not suitable for unwell patients.

During busy periods telephone appointments will be suspended, however during these times please feel free to ask one of our receptionists to relay a message on your behalf to one of our GPs. This member of staff can then ring you back with the GPs response. All our staff are bound by confidentiality agreements.

How to request

Telephone: 01443 740447

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to attend surgery you can request the doctor to call.

If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:30am. If the problem is urgent please make it clear to the receptionist.

Telephone: 01443 740447

For all calls you will be asked to give brief details and your telephone number.

Try to be reasonable in your request for home visits. It is much easier for the doctor to assess and examine you in the surgery. Remember that in the time it takes to do a home visit he could see about five patients in the surgery. Lack of transport is not a valid reason for requesting a home visit. Transport could be sought from possibly a neighbour, relative or taxi service.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.

Ways to cancel

1. Telephone us on 01443 740447.

2. Cancel through the NHS Wales App

GP Registrars and Medical Students

We are a training practice, and you may be offered an appointment with a GP registrar. These doctors are fully qualified and will have had experience in several hospital specialties. They are completing their specialist training as a GP.

We also teach medical students and sometimes you may be asked to see the doctor or nurse with a student present.

You will always be asked beforehand if this is acceptable and you may ask for the student to withdraw if you prefer to have your consultation in private.

Chaperones

The Health Centre is committed to providing a safe comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance.

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations in accordance with our chaperone policy.

If you would like to see a copy of our chaperone policy or have any questions or comments regarding this please contact Ann Brown, Practice Manager.
